We are talking about Kuldeep Dwivedi, a resident of a small village Sheikhpur in Uttar Pradesh. Kuldeep’s father used to work as a security guard in the state capital Lucknow. He used to get a very low salary. Due to which the family had trouble in making ends meet. Kuldeep’s parents considered education as the way out of poverty. They encouraged their children to study despite having limited education. His father is a 12th pass while his mother is a 5th class pass. Kuldeep was the smartest among his 4 siblings.
His sister told in an interview that he used to feel bad seeing his cousins studying in English medium schools, but his parents always tried to do better. He used to run his work with the money given by his father for house rent. But on the basis of his hard work and dedication, he passed the UPSC exam in the first attempt.
Preparing by yourself
Kuldeep graduated from Allahabad University in 2009. After this, he completed his post graduation in 2011 and then started preparing for UPSC without a mobile or laptop. Since he could not afford coaching, he borrowed books from friends and cracked the UPSC exam by studying on his own.

Kuldeep Dwivedi cleared the exam in his first attempt in 2015 and secured 242nd rank. After which he became an IRS officer. Kuldeep’s hard work and passion made him realize that ability and passion are necessary for success.
